Sustainability
Everything we process begins with the Himalayan Alluvial Plains of Bihar, land naturally renewed each year by rivers carrying fresh sediment down from the Himalayas. That renewal is not something we take for granted. Protecting the soil, water and ecosystems behind our harvest is central to how we plan to operate, season after season.
We encourage the farmers we work with to adopt responsible agricultural practices that preserve soil fertility rather than deplete it. A field farmed with care today is a field that keeps producing for generations, and that long-term view guides how we source.
Water carried down from the Himalayas is what renews this land every year. We support water-conscious irrigation and farming practices among our sourcing partners, and we are working to keep water use at our own processing facility as efficient as possible.
A significant share of harvested produce is lost before it ever reaches a buyer. By processing close to the source, we cut the time between harvest and processing, reducing spoilage and making sure less of what farmers grow ends up wasted.
As our facility in Purnea grows, we are committed to adopting responsible waste management and energy practices, so that our own footprint stays in step with the environmental values we ask our sourcing partners to uphold.
Our environmental programs will keep growing alongside our operations. If you represent an organisation working on sustainable agriculture, soil health or water stewardship in Bihar and would like to explore a partnership with O Farm, we would like to hear from you.
