Hand-picked young from the maize belt of North Bihar
A dense stand of young maize plants in the field

Baby corn is the young ear of the maize plant, harvested one to three days after the silks appear. Leave it a few days longer and the cob toughens and turns starchy. That narrow window is why every ear we supply is picked by hand, row by row, and moved to processing the same day.
Our crop comes from farming communities and FPOs across the Seemanchal, Koshi and Mithila belts of North Bihar. The Koshi and Seemanchal districts are among India's major maize-growing areas, and the soil here is Himalayan alluvium, topped up with fresh silt each monsoon by rivers flowing down from Nepal. Growers in the region know maize well, which makes the switch to a careful baby corn harvest a natural one.
Because baby corn loses sweetness and colour quickly after picking, our processing base sits close to the fields. Shorter distances mean less time in transit, less bruising and less waste, and the ears you receive are closer to the condition they were in when they left the plant.
The O Farm Difference
Our farmer partners pick within the one to three day window after silking. The result is a tender, crisp ear with a mild, sweet flavour and no woody core.
With our processing base near the growing areas, freshly picked ears reach cooling and packing quickly. This matters more for baby corn than for most vegetables, since quality drops fast once it is off the plant.
Each lot is sorted for length, diameter and colour. We look for a pale cream to light yellow ear, straight in shape, with even, tightly packed rows of ovules. Broken, curved or discoloured pieces are taken out.
Baby corn is a short crop, ready in around two months, so farmers can fit several harvests into a year. Buying direct, with fewer middlemen and prices linked to quality, puts more of that income in their hands.
Lots are recorded from farm and FPO through to shipment, so you can see where your baby corn was grown and when it was packed.
Processing and packing follow internationally recognised food safety standards, with hygiene and temperature control checked at each stage.
Specifications are indicative and can be adjusted to your requirement. Final parameters are confirmed in writing with each order.
