Grown on the straw of North Bihar's paddy and wheat fields
White button mushrooms growing on beds in an indoor farm

Bihar is now among the country's leading mushroom producers. Much of that crop comes from small growers and women's self-help groups working out of simple, low-cost huts, where paddy and wheat straw from the surrounding fields becomes the growing bed. Straw that used to be burnt or left to rot now turns into a cash crop.
O Farm sources white button (Agaricus bisporus) and oyster (Pleurotus) mushrooms from growers and FPOs across the Seemanchal, Koshi and Mithila belts, with milky mushroom available in the warmer months. We buy directly, pay according to quality, and keep our processing base close to the huts so the crop reaches the cold room within hours of picking.
That speed matters more for mushrooms than for almost any other vegetable. They keep respiring after harvest and start to brown quickly, so every hour saved between picking and chilling shows up in colour, firmness and shelf life at your end.
The O Farm Difference
Our processing base sits close to the growing clusters, so fresh mushrooms are chilled soon after picking. Less time at ambient temperature means less browning, less weight loss and fewer rejections on arrival.
Button mushrooms are sorted by cap size and checked for closed veils, clean stems and even colour. Tell us the grade your line or shelf needs and we pack to it.
The growing beds are made from paddy and wheat straw that would otherwise be burnt in the fields. Buying these mushrooms supports cleaner air in the region and gives crop residue a real market value.
A large share of our supply comes from women's self-help groups and smallholders. Direct buying with fewer middlemen, and prices linked to quality, means more of the money stays with the people doing the work.
Each lot is recorded from the grower group through grading and packing to dispatch. If you need to trace a batch, we can tell you where it was grown and when it was picked.
Cleaning, grading and packing follow internationally recognised food safety standards, with hygiene checks built into each stage rather than left to the end.
Specifications are indicative and can be adjusted to your requirement. Final parameters are confirmed in writing with each order.
